Springing Into A Summer Of Love Poem by James Darwin Smith II

Springing Into A Summer Of Love

I am where
The stellar jays
Form some blue
In their black
Amongst the sky
That clears
For the sun's arrival

Living in a place
A state of great peace
Never a drop of rain
Just yellow rays
Giving this skin
Such love and devotion

I reside
Where the sticker bushes
Blossom of sweet scent
Giving birth to the berries
Edible splendor
In a season's welcoming

Sweating with happiness
Warmth so abundantly coursing
Flowing through this skin
Goosebumps flowing
After a long season of slumber

This taste refined
With a sea salt devotion
So prevalent with the sun's arrival
As the calming waters
Cleanse this new journey
As far as this body lets me go

The sun is my awakening
Showing me love from above
Staying out as long as it can
Guiding this hope
Into much better days ahead

I am where I belong
Seasonal love
Where these dreams
Walk with bigger strides
Into a greater tomorrow

I am finally home
No matter where
I will go from here
