I heard a loud clap
Sprung the mouse trap,
The mouse is now dead
From nibbling on a piece of bread.
No longer will it freely roam
Inside of my castle, my home,
It is now finally gone
Finally now, I can move on.
No longer will it be freely running about
No longer will I hear a scream or a shout,
When my family or friends come over to visit
Because, the trap killed it.
Me that mouse couldn't deceive
It would never leave,
Then one day there would be more
It created this hatred, this war.
No longer will I hear it running
While thinking to myself how cunning,
No longer will I see its droppings, its rice
In arrogance left by all mice.
At first I wast going to be inhumane
With glue pads for suffering and pain,
I wanted him to be alive
I wanted him to survive.
But, him I couldn't catch
With the new alive traps promising to fetch,
So, I did it the old fashioned way
As my parents did in their day.
It had broke into my house
That tiny little mouse,
I never wanted it there
Now it's dead, without tears or a prayer.
