Squash Flower Baby Poem by Kelly Boutin

Squash Flower Baby

Squash flower baby trying to bloom
beautiful squash flowers out in the cold
squash flower baby so far from home
squash flower baby, how can you grow?

All my life I've hated squashes but picked them anyway
squashes without colors I love you today.

When I was a child I broke
then grew up the wrong vine
now again on my own I've learned how to climb
squashes wilt and shrivel,
hey, you know we all die.

Squash flower baby
Trying to bloom
squash flower baby
Crying too soon.
