Asked what to write in French:

'It's not 'loin' (far out)
or 'sur pied' (out walking)
or 'à cheval' (horseback riding) , '
he said.

'It's not 'au large' (at sea) ,
'sur scène' (on stage) ,
or 'de l'autre côté' (dead) .

It's not even simple 'sorti' (out) .

'En ville' (in town) , I'm pretty sure,
is the standard note on the door.
