Standing At The Pearly Gate Poem by Randy McClave

Standing At The Pearly Gate

If you make it to the Pearly Gate
Will all the immigrants you still hate,
Unto Saint Peter will you rant and complain
Telling him of all your earthly pain.
Will you speak of immigrants coming to your land
And how you hated them wherever they did stand,
Murderers, rapists and druggies they all were
So, their desires and needs you always did deter.
Many were the poor and also the hungry
But, you didn't want to feed them in your country,
And their children who were treated like hell
You were happy that they were locked away in jail.
I wonder if Saint Peter will quote you the Bible
Telling you how every word is true and vital,
Maybe he will read you of all the preachings
And remind you of the teacher's teachings.
Feed and help the needy and the poor and be like me
Those who harmed a little one be drowned in the depth of the sea,
Those are what the Lord had taught
Peace and love and salvation is what for all he had sought.
When at the Pearly Gate you are standing
While the poor and needy and the immigrants you are branding,
I wander then where for your eternity you will be sent
When Peter tells you that Jesus was also an immigrant.
