Statistics Canada Poem by Raymond Farrell

Statistics Canada

We live in a world
Where liars figure
And hence figures lie
Statistics Canada is a prime example
Of a pack of government liars
Who publish yearly poverty rates
While conveniently excluding
From their calculations
The poverty rates
For Indian reservations and territories
The question is this
How can the government
Or anyone else
Properly assess matters
WIthout providing accurate data
Poverty in many indigenous communities
Rivals what I saw in India

If a country
Inadequately provides
For a significant number of its population
Then why does it
Open its doors
To other people
Unless it could be
There is and has always been
A lack of concern
For the blight of Native Canadians.
