Steps Poem by William McGehee

Steps

Rating: 4.5

Step 1: drop the beat.
Clap your hand and stop your feet.
Feel the rhythm of the street,
You like it hot, I bring the heat.

Step 2: lay the track.
Do your best, I got your back.
Don't listen to the doubter yak,
They can't take no more of dat.

Step 3: mix the words.
Take a stand and make it heard.
Spit the lyrics in a blur,
Then sit back and watch them stir.

Step 4: grab the mic.
Play the show, and live the hype.
Take your place inside the light,
But don't forget your former life.
