Still Always There Poem by Robert Dunbar

Still Always There

A Dad is a man a Daughter looks up to for guidance and security,
You have guided me through life so far, from infancy to maturity.

Letting me make decisions on my own whether you knew they were wrong or right,
But still you were always there, to be my rock and guiding light.

There has never been a handbook on being such a remarkable Dad,
And no matter what I have put you through you have always been there when things were bad.

I have grown to be a little older and a lot wiser through out the years, from the wisdom you have gave me,
I have had people in my life that have come and gone, if it wasn’t for you I don’t know where I would be.

I can’t praise or thank you enough for what you have done and what you still do,
I just wish for once there was something I could do in return for you.

All I can do is show you my love, and hope you know just how much you mean to me,
The main thing I want you to know is that my love for you will always be there for eternity.

Over the years there have been times I have pushed you to despair,
But at the end of the day Dad you are still always there.

I take after you in so many ways and we have a lot of things in common that we can share,
The love you have shown me each and every day is so special and so very rare.

Words can’t express what you mean to me even though I really do try,
All that is left to say is I will be thankful and love you until the day I die.
