Still Think About Us Poem by Nicholas Smith

Still Think About Us

From time, time to time, or every now & again
You reign in my mind like a Queen would a palace

Ah, but a malice queen you are and even though afar you remain in my heart
Though it is faint the beat continues at slow rate

Guilty of heartbreak I do confess this crime
Judge throws the book at me and gives hard time

Afterwards stating: 'you'd best learn your lesson immediately! '
'Her shade of light brown eyes are nothing but cruelty! '

Brought to my mental cell guard shows his horrendous teeth
'Now that you're here breakdown and think about Emani! '

Memories flash, faded laughs, can it just be over?
Hands buried in face, my feelings are taking place

No tears fall trying to pull myself together
Weeks have passed, the pain still here, but I'm getting better

9 days after departure you were with someone else
Said it was me you loved, as we kissed & hugged

Guess it was all a lie, but still with no cry I stated good bye
So much more I wanted to say, so badly I wanted to stay

If it was anything I learned it's that you've lossed out
My love was sweet as nectar not a toy thing to play about

Through all that agonizing experience it has gone to dust
You may not reverie about me but I still think about us
