Still Waiting Poem by Laurie hill

Still Waiting

Rating: 5.0

A promise from you,
like snow crystals in the sun.
Shining with beauty,
only to melt and forgotten again.
Yet as a fool, I believed and loved each one.
As the snow, my heart melts, to memory, to pain.

A kiss from you,
like sea spray upon the breeze.
With the salt of tears,
soft and gentle to my face
Your lips smiled I love you,
love sighed my plea's.
Lost to the shadows, to the echoes,
of this lonely place.

As sunset's last rays,
turn gold against the sea.
My shadow flickers dimly,
in the candles dancing glow.
Yet I'll wait until the dawn,
until natures grey anonymity.
As I remember I waited,
two long and lonely years ago.

The wind drops and the silence, brings a holiness.
A birdcall shatters my dream,
the call so shrill.
I feel so small, so small,
in this quiet loneliness.
But I'll wait, as I've done,
as I always will.

This is so lovely and so haunting. So well said and crafted as always. Making me wish I had written it myself but oh so appreciative of having been able to read it. Thank you

This makes me want to know more. It feels like a very emotionally driven write. I especially like the repetition in the last stanza.

This is unquestionably a beautifully written and expressed poem, Laurie, one that evokes considerable empathy in all who read this extraordinary poem. I do not know how long you have been writing poetry, but I would guess it was not yesterday, not last month, or not last year, but for a considerable time to attain the skill you have achieved with words and emotions, and the ability to write such wonderful poems as this. Carl.
