Stone And Reed Poem by Hans Ostrom

Stone And Reed

Her father was a stone
In the middle of a stream.
Her mother was reed
Beside a lake.

In Spring she swam
Against the stream
Which had worn down
The Father Stone.

She swam in Summer
Around the lake
And heard the wind
Sing on the shore.

In Fall the rocks
Knocked in the stream
Beneath the brown
And roiling flood.

Ice made the lake
A Winter stone
And stole the voice
That sang the wind.

Her father was a stone
In the middle of a stream.
Her mother was a reed
Beside the lake.
