Outside my window
In the sultry afternoon
Following a humid day
Of a monsoon season
Rains are lashing.
The booming of thunder
With the crashing of lightning
Fills the heart with awe.
Out there in few moments
From the unknown colonies
Swarms of winged guests appear
In this unique setting of nature.
Female and male alates
Had been on the waiting
In the wild hide outs
Fully prepared in advance
To be on their nuptial flights
On their fragile wings
In my rain washed garden.
The workers and soldiers,
Kings and queens are at work.
Following the divine dictum.
They will procreate
Set up new colonies.
They got the wings
At this phase of life
To fly high and ride the stormy weather
In great excitement
Being destined to be together
At this inclement weather.
It's the moment of their extreme joy
Of love and mating.
Though only a few males
And females survive
This festival of love making
While the predators went feasting,
Still they carry the divine orders quietly.
They came out for the event
To participate in the cycle of birth
And death on earth.
