Storm On The Sea Poem by Charlie Bain

Storm On The Sea

A storm is brewing on the sea
I'm out on the deck with my family
Unaware, we are, of the danger to come
The elders play cards and the young children run

We see it in the distance, we all run inside
But as the door shuts, I suddenly realize
I left my beloved by the tallest smoke stack
I run out the door, I have to go back

A storm is raging on the sea
I'm stuck on the deck, my lover I cannot see
I try hard to find him and I finally do
We run back to the door and try to get through

The back doors are locked, we cannot get in
We're forced to run around to the front again
My mom opens the door and hugs us both tight
Then scolds us for giving her so much of a fright

A storm is over on the sea
Alone we stand, my lover and me
He's shaking in fear but I'm shaking more
'Now we've seen what nature is like at war.'
