Storm Out In The Distance Poem by Mike Kosman

Storm Out In The Distance

So many years she has layed down by his side
With her warm hand on his chest as he held her through the night
But the honeymoon is over now and life's become so hard
There's a storm out in the distance as the wind blows through the yard

It takes more to build a happy home than lumber brick and nails
And a man can never rest when he's feeling like he's failed
His mind is ever searching to find a better way
And she can't stand to see her man a million miles away

He does his best providing and he doesn't ask alot
But his best just don't seem good enough and he's given all he's got
She works her fingers to the bone and sometime she wonders why
Cause she knows there's more to living than just trying to get by

Problems and misfortunes, they face them as they come
Though love is ever present frustration overcomes
She don't mean the things she's saying, he don't mean to make her cry
But it's no use once all hell breaks loose and the hurting starts to fly

And the dark clouds form and the lightnin strikes
And the thunder rumbles out in the night
The honeymoon is over now and life's become so hard
There's a storm out in the distance as the wind blows through the yard
