Stormy Seas Poem by Ernesto Barca

Stormy Seas

Raise your head, lift up your chin and look forward.

Do not shrink into the darkness,
Kneel not to the martinet,
The cannon drum bangs loud above,
Force with forte shall meet today.

Let your soul sail onward through choppy waves,
Let boldness and fortitude be your guide,
Let the breath of the heavens carry your dreams,
Catch and hold them with the tide,
Let peacock strut and fear subside,
Lady Destiny ne'er on fate she rides.

Cometh the storm.

Duck the boom and chase the wind,
Flinch not, stay the course.
Batten the hatches, lay waste the victual load,
Leave every dunsel bare,
Heave to and back the jib,
And sturdy you will fare.
Fortitude will slay the wrath,
Open skies and calmer ports
lull you to your path.
