Light From The Dark Poem by Ernesto Barca

Light From The Dark

We feel the pain, the anguish of parents
Shielding children,
Many millions,
Who want to play and shout and play and rout
The time away, from school
From friends, from everyday…
life.

The old, the young, from this can't run,
The rules get tougher, we can't see
One another, can't hold or feel
The warmth of a mother,
Or stay by the bedside to say goodbye to a brother
He's just another, following another,
To be followed by another.

Empty hearts with tears they fill,
And yet the streets seem empty still
Until the day we meet again
Stay strong for me, for us and then
Life will get better, bit by bit
Our angels dark skies before have lit
With fuel of hope and dreams to come
After dark we will see the sun,
And the children will play and laugh and run for fun,
That day, when we all come together again,
As one.

Until then stay strong my friend,
For I will soon see you again,
Around the dark and dim-lit bend
A desperate prayer too late to lend
To too many women, children and men,

To speak to them of hope is futile then?

When hope is all we have we must
With hope and love in each other trust
That better days around the bend will be,
Waiting in expectancy.
So hand-in-hand we will hearts mend
The quilted fabric of our blend..(‘ed)
Colours dark and rainbow bright,
The perfect contrast for our plight
And from the night,
It's up to us to make things right,
To put the bright back into light
And not lose sight
That we all are in this fight…
Together.
