A, I found a version of the original to read aloud. This shows that you treat Pavese's works as something that should not be beauty, but is. I felt, at first reading, that the opening question seemed awkward: forced; then through re-readings it smoothed its way into the work. This nihalism is portrayed so wonderfully here.
