Streets Poem by Christina Shischell

Streets

The city was a little kinder
And the lights glistened with a sadness
Watching me
Watching it all unfold
As they have watched before.
Life flashed around,
Looking up in the sky in Flagstaff
Everything burning so elegantly
To my bed, my bed, my bed
Where I spent so many eternal days.
To somewhere in the future
Shaking hands,
Looking into her eyes,
Into yours,
And being free, arms outstretched
To the ocean
Feet sinking into the sand
Message in a bottle.
This memory is too far away now.
Someday peace will find us
We'll have flowers in our hair
Love in our hearts
Victory in our eyes..
This is my two cents
My two feet
All I've got to give.
A city and a dream.
Clouds running off into the west.
I wish I could follow...
