Strength, Begotten From Pure Piety Poem by Maurice Harris

Strength, Begotten From Pure Piety

You must know in the heart I once knew,
That a dark and evil spirit dwells inside you,
Where once was a beautiful Angel-who once saw me as same;
This transmogrification is an unmitigated shame!

Nothing lezs than an exorcism is necessary at this point,
Due your panoply of unholy acts-to anoint
You with the 'oil' of honesty and humility,
And bless you all over again, with the ability
To see the truth that lies bare, all around-
To live the love again that once served to astound.

The erstwhile Angel I once knew and did covet,
Can then emerge from this occupation, and rise above it-
Of this, I have not, the least bit of dubiety;
All that is needed is the strength begotten from pure piety!
