Suicide Secrets Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Suicide Secrets

‘Suicide’ she whispered,
as she clutched the collar of his shirt.
The only word he didn’t understand.
Over and over all he heard was ‘I’m fine’.
She’d silently tell him above all others,
‘I’m going to kill myself tonight’.
Though he couldn’t understand.
She’d laugh instead of cry,
she’d smile instead of stare blankly.
She became faux.
The night she’d said goodbye,
it was merely taken as a see you soon.
As life goes,
it’s impossible to see.
The hurt someone carries,
the burdens written on their hands.
It’s a strain of cruelty.
Still, we hear what we choose,
we see what we desire.
She’s not hiding ripped or scorched flesh,
she’s just cold.
His bruises are from soccor,
not his stepfather.
Reality can only escape the radar so long,
before the tramatic chain of events begins.

Very interesting and very melancholy. Beautiful writing, I like this a lot.
