Summer Days Poem by Kenneth Muhangi

Summer Days

Marry me i asked the sky,
On this subtle summer day
Before the music should die,
And the clouds lose their wings,

Be mine I asked the breeze,
Fall upon my skin,
And kiss me till my fears are gone,
And when you do care to dance,
Let first my heart be yours,
So that tomorrow may also be ours,
And the dreams of this hour,
Write themselves firmly upon your brow

Love me I told the lake,
Carry me on your journey,
Before the tide should cease,
And the song that is in your pulse,
Fall upon the rocks,
And with it all my hopes and thoughts
Let my voice be what guides you,
And my hand the reason you gaze upon the trees
And when you so meet the sky and the breeze,
Let this be our moment,
For without one or the other,
You and I cannot be,
Alone we are But whispers of the night
If this be our choice,
Our reason for strength that we must live
For when it Is centuries after this day,
Let them remember who we were,
And know that ours was a love of peace,
All the days of our lives....
