Blue face fierce feline
Mai
Climbs up from her undertable lair
Claws out
Suddenly springs into action
Side by side with
Wizard of Wonder
Me
A marvelously magical moment of
Intergenerational Summer Solstice Silliness

In her glory

Brilliant yellow
Angel wings
Unfurled
Golden hair
Cascading down her back
Tresses
Her shadow
On the street
Unforgetable

He Lives for This

The news reporter's gift to our community
Is being there
Right place, right time
So much going on
Some good news but all too often tragedy
When we celebrate our common unity
Like the Summer Solstice Celebration Parade
Here in Santa Barbara today on solstice Saturday
This venerated news reporter John Palminteri
Feels his youthful self come out
A day with joy, togetherness, and happiness
Music, dancing, silliness
The people being kind
The news reporter lives for this
And when it comes to him to have his work be play
A Summer Solstice Celebration
Kinda makes his day!

Inspired

The parade began like this
Inspired by one man's birthday wish
Year after year we've celebrated
The joy and love Michael Gonzales emmanated
Forty-four more times around the sun we've flown
The precious little Mime Caravan
Has grown and grown and grown
This time once again
The parade was led by La Bohéme
Were Michael here to see it
He would scarce believe it
Living on in us that spirit high
Can never ever ever die
Summer Solstice Celebration
Is much more than a revelation
It is at heart a transformation
A wonder in our community's soul we hold
A wonder so big, so zany, so fun and bold
And very small like children short and tall
Those face painted children inside us all
The Summer Solstice Celebration Parade began like this
Inspired by one special man's special birthday wish

Her Inner Light Still Shines

Divine being
Spreads her wings
Their power
Overwhelming
And her grace
On other days
Those bright blue things
Are tucked away
Her inner light still shines
In that bright smile
Those twinkling eyes
Her radiant expressive face
Solstice brings out
The best in us
But when it's over
Have no fear
Our special Summer Solstice Celebration superpowers
Shine strong within us
All throughout the year
