Summer's Fresh Greenness Poem by Deanna Samuels

Summer's Fresh Greenness

The fresh greenness of spring and early summer
has settled into the fullness and zenith of its growth.
Trees of all species feature their dress with pride,
standing tall, bursting with their foliage of green
while tall grassy banks sport numerous varieties of
summer hedges and wild flowers, each type growing
taller and bolder, vying the other to be
the highest and most colorful along the row.
Sumac bushes growing fast, yielding large firm bulbs
soon to burst into flowers of bright red cones.

Canola fields have become a bright yellow carpet
and vegetable rows of varying produce grow taller,
denser and rounder as each day passes,
their fruits becoming riper, juicier, ready to harvest.
Corn growth already waist high,
soon will show their many emerging cob sheaves.
Country house gardens are at their pinnacle of beauty,
lawns and flower beds manicured to show at their best.

The whole countryside is now at its peak,
such gloriousness, such beauty to behold.
