Suppose That's What Makes People So Interesting

He asked me how much money you make from your verses? I answered to me no financial gain,
He laughed said you've got to be joking pray tell me then can you explain
That you keep on putting your thoughts to paper one might have thought you'd give writing away
Since you don't get financially rewarded a fool only works without pay?

If I said to him just as a hobby he would only look on me as strange
So methought this conversation going nowhere and the subject I thought I might change
I said looks like we're in for a change in the weather there's heavy rain clouds in the sky,
He mused every dropp of rain is welcome my water tank is almost dry.

We parted there at the street corner five minutes speaking to him did not seem brief
He went his way and I went my way and I felt a great sense of relief
That our conversation was over he is not what I do call a mate
To himself his family and money to these three he only relate.

On food for the soul and on culture not one bit of interest he did show
How much money I make from my verses are all that he wished for to know
But if we were all alike life would be boring we all see things in a different way
Suppose that's what makes people so interesting and each to their own as they say.
