Surreal Poem by Vishorag Shadja

Surreal

Rating: 5.0

Surroundings seems to dissolve
Darkness engulfs everything
Nonetheless I try to feel,
Except there is nothing.

Then the fact dawned on me,
Like a million lights switched on
Now that I could see,
I was just a pawn!

I'm standing before the queen
The opening move still left
I looked around to see seven pawns
Sharing the same fate.

The whites' turn it was,
There came the first move.
The fate has spoken,
I was the first one to move.

The queen surged,
And the bishop attacked.
The king stood still,
Neither did the rook budge.

I strode forward,
Facing the opponent king.
My knight supporting me,
In the opponent's ring.

I reached the last square.
Chose to be the knight.
Capturing the opponents pawns,
Winning every fight.

The king is trapped,
Of course, it was his fate.
The game is wrapped,
As the king was checkmate.

As the lights went out,
I woke up in my bed.
The thought of the queen,
Reminds me my surreal dream...
