The One That Got Away Poem by Vishorag Shadja

The One That Got Away

Rating: 5.0

At home sitting by the old worn out mat,
I realize time passed by without stopping.
Young body but an old soul, sitting straight
Emotions that are unwarranted, stirring -
Memories, that clearly seem obliterated,
Old space filled by regrets occupying,
The only place I could escape to undaunted..
Haunting the past and wearing the thinking hat...

With immense effort I try to wade past,
The extremely blatant memories of them all.
Hiding behind all those was that one incident,
Which can only be termed as an accident,
Trying to remember whether it was summer or fall,
Tripping through the memory-land I sigh in aghast
Just to remember the one face I should say,
Just to remember the one that got away.
