Sustenance Poem by Erika Wingo

Sustenance

Rating: 4.5

I linger within each moment
Sauntering lazily through the day
Time follows along behind me
Making sure to stay
Out of my way
It's like no other reality
Exists
It's like nothing else matters
Beyond this...

Surrounded by the beauty
Of nature's infinite art
Perfect portraits hanging
On the walls of the world
Moving past me like scenes
From a play
Vivid and unreal
With colors so surreal
It could be just a painting
Of the day

Aware that I've had my fill
I momentarily become still
In a tranquil space
Wariness fades
The grass turns into diamonds
When dew glitters on it's blades

A lullaby is in the breeze
It sings to me and sways the leaves
On the trees
Soothes my senses
Brings me calm
As I stand holding all the kisses
That you've blown to me
Within each of my palms
