Swallows Song Poem by Thomas Plotz

Swallows Song

Baby, my head hurts from the lack of you
My heart tearing apart in two
I’m seeing swallows darting in the sky
I’m asking why…
Why, I’m not; with you

Sitting by the riverside
Watching the trees wave in the breeze
Seeking for answers, I know you hold
Asking why, I’m not; with you

Yearning to be in my Baby’s arms
With my hand pressing firmly, upon your back…
It’s not that I lack, your heart
For I know I own it forever…
Promise to me, years ago
Promise to me, looking down toward the sea

For I hear you; calling…
Parading the heroes in front of me
Marching up the memories
I hear you; calling… for me!
I’m seeing the people, moments too late
Slipping in time, and out of sync, to be; with you…

Asking why; I’m not with you…
Baby, please; take this Demon away…
Asking come to pray, and hold me tight; tonight, and always…

Breakaway we’ll play, by the riverside
Watching the swallows, glide
As the sun moves to the western sea
Blending our burning hearts; smeared across the setting sky
With colors of you, and me
