Sweet Shining Stars Poem by Idiongo Ebong

Sweet Shining Stars

Sweet shining stars, bearer of the Goodnews
Sweet shining stars, announcer of the Goodnews
Where is thou blinking in the wells of the skies?
Where is thy direction in this empty world of despair?
Blink to my sight, sweet shining stares
And Lead me to the place of my saviour’s birth

I have seen thy, the three stars of wisdom
Blinking thy way towards the East
Blink into my life Sweet shining stars
And let me see the path that leads to goodness
Kill in me the darkness that opposes you sweet shining stars

If I dare step into Herod’s house, deliberately or by mistake
Withdraw from the house of doom my legs and my heart
Wheel my mind to one direction only, sweet shining stars
Keep my mind on one focus only, sweet shining stars
My heart only shall think and dream, the place of my saviour’s birth.

When the sorrows of this life shall blind my eye
Covering me with the tears of agony and death
And burying me in the dark dungeons of the grave
Oh sweet shining stars, light the grave for me
Let me see joy in the place of my saviour’s birth
