i can’t make you happy
you alone can do it
i can not touch you
i will not hurt you

you can’t make me happy
i alone can do so
i will not be touched
i will not be hurt

in friendship unlike in art
there is no harmony in asymmetry
a balance unreached is
a link poised to unhinge

you detach
i disengage
in giving up friendship
we salvage acquaintedness releasing
our cocooned and armored hearts//
