T-Rex And T-May Poem by Sandra Black

T-Rex And T-May

Rating: 4.5

A sad end to a mighty thing
But Nature is mightier still
Deep rooted beliefs and mighty ideals
A pool of genes and duties to fulfill
Terrible load on the shoulders frail
The giant could only but wail

Out came an asteroid out of the blue
Brexited the way for the mighty two
A long innings none expected of ye
But perhaps it was just hopeful me
A curse that came with the office
Extinction is the word that would suffice

It hit them like they could never imagine
Those heady days of glorious rule
They ruled the Earth and all therein
Twas but a moment in history been
Tears of joy and regret
Filled the old eyes and found an outlet

Alas too late twas my leader
You had a mighty task
That was wrung assunder
Now you can never in the exit glory bask
Goodbye farewell, well fought
This game was lost even from the start

I loved the irony. A great poem for our troubled times.
