Take Hold Poem by Midifo Yearns

Take Hold

It cannot be and yet it is
that fear could stifle out a nation
It cannot be and yet it is
that people walk in strangulation
of all their hope and longed for peace
their joy, their song, their dancing feet.

It cannot be and yet it is
that one can hold them all to ransom
It cannot be and yet it is
that wombs do not give birth to Samson
that hungry eyes and painful hearts
would not find strength to pant
and growl and slowly down
the structures of an old, old clown
that rules them all with dreaded voice
and robs them of their every choice.

It cannot be and yet it is
that life becomes a painful quiz
of who and how and where to now
of daily strain and inner pain.
It cannot be and yet it is
that we are still in such a mess.

Stand up and know that all is well
for those who will not bend to hell.
Take heart and hope and strength to cope
Your life is in your hands you know.
