Tale Of Rustam And Sohrab Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

Tale Of Rustam And Sohrab

Tale of Rustam and Sohrab
In days of old, when tales were told,
And legends of heroes were known to behold,
There lived a warrior, strong and bold,
Rustam was his name, in stories told.

And yet, another hero there was,
A young prince, Sohrab, with a noble cause,
Destined to fight, against all odds,
His father's kingdom to uphold.

They met in battle, sword against sword,
And fought with all their might, as they soared,
But in the end, tragedy did unfold,
As Rustam, unaware, his own son did hold.

For Sohrab, it was too late, he could not be saved,
And Rustam, in anguish, his son he craved,
The pain of loss, his soul did enslave,
And he wept, for his mistake, he raved.

Thus, the tale of Rustam and Sohrab,
A story of love, and tragedy so sad,
Teaches us that war, is never a good fad,
And that peace and love, should always be had
