Tall And Brave Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Tall And Brave

Rating: 3.5

School-courtyard Pipal Tree-
O' my school-courtyard Pipal Tree
I beseech you to teach and tell me
How to count and calculate thy age...?

Even, years after appearing all the same-
Used to be so genial, caring and protective
Youthful, blissful, saintly in a fatherly figure
So superb, magnificent, splendid and glorious
Watching today, the majestic grand divine tree!

Blows of time disfiguring the shape
Can't be unforeseen or overlooked-
O' my school-courtyard divine Pipal Tree
People worshipping thou'st as Lord Brhma...
For thy spell, thou'rt still standing tall and brave!

I love this poem! Wonderfully penned and so expressive! I love trees too! I think they are so beautiful and the more they are gnarled the more I love them!

A Pipal tree is a very sacred tree and worshiped by Hindus. Some tie threads around its trunk to fulfill wishes. A very nice poem indeed. Thanks for sharing.
