Tears Of Happiness Poem by Benjamin Davis

You have been given so much pain in the past
and have suffered so miserably
other men have loved you but their loves didn't last
and now you're expecting the same thing from me.
Well, I'm not like those that you've had before
mine is a love that you can trust
others may have loved you, but I'll love you more
besides, I'll have love in my heart and not lust.
I know that you've been hurt over and over again
because of the sadness that shows in your eyes
I can feel through you some of all of that pain
and my ears can detect all of the lies.
I am here to end all of your misery
and to relieve you from all of your stress
should you ever be caused to shed tears by me
they will be tears of happiness.
I can sense that you want to push me away
though I was never the one to hurt you
I know that you're scared but baby it's OK
because I have been through the same things too.
Give me the chance and I'll remove those fears
and give you the true love that I possess
then once we're together if you ever shed tears
they'll be tears of happiness.
