Teen Burden Poem by Govind Ramakrishnan

Teen Burden

Carrying
Close to twenty pounds
This 600-denier polyester
Back pack
Symbolizes
Teen burden,

Numbing pain
Dealt
To the shoulders
Of each girl and boy
Headed to high school
Snapping this contraption
On their back,

Unsure of what
Would wear out
First,
The school bag
Or their tender shoulders
