Tell Me Why Poem by Peter Bishop

Tell Me Why

Tell me why the world seems blue
I really don't know without the clue.
Tell me why the world is mad
When life isn't really all that bad.

Tell me why we still aren't free
Standing like a strong beautiful oak tree.
Tell me why we lie and cheat
Is it to show that we can't be beat?

Tell me why some dreams are sweet
They're like the high peaceful sound of a dove's tweet.
Tell me why hate was made
It cuts the soul like a very sharp blade.

Tell me why the heart hasn't found a cure
That truly comes from a heart that is very pure.
Tell me why they hate the dove
That spreads the peace and all the love?

Tell me why we hide behind millions of masks
That takes away from our most important tasks?
Tell me why we lead each other a stray
Is it because we ourselves were pushed away?

Tell me why we always delay
Is it because we let others form us like clay?
Tell me why we all are slow
Is it because we always feel so low.

Tell me why the world is blind
Has hate found a way to keep us bind?

Tell me why
