Tender Saviour! Grant Us Favour! Poem by Denis Martindale

To think, the Father sent His Son, to dwell among Mankind,
The will of God by Mary done, no greater girl to find.
She held Christ in her arms real close, then sang her lullabies,
With Joseph warned about Christ's foes, not taken by surprise.
Then Jesus growing wiser still, a student of God's Word,
With prophecies He must fulfil, so that men's hearts get stirred.
Thus children came to hear Christ speak the parables we know,
While even more would come to seek the wisdom that would flow.

To some, He brought His tender love, not one seemed to deserve,
Forgiveness from God's Throne above, for sinners here on Earth.
And great compassion, so divine, enough to make men weep,
With miracles that proved God's sign, He raised the dead from sleep.
Tender Saviour, and risen Lord, appearing to His friends,
To grant them faith to preach assured that God's love never ends!
Show mercy to Your friends today, with healing in Your wings,
And harken to the prayers we pray, Good Shepherd, King of Kings!
