######thank You For Keeping It Up Poem by Dee Wright

######thank You For Keeping It Up

Period pains.

I hate ‘em.

Period.

The pain telegrams me:

“Hey there cutie.Stop. Me again. Stop.
Won’t stop. Stop. Love. Stop. Mr. Pain! ”

“Stop! ”
I scream.

“Even my ouch
said Ouch! ”

I smile quoting one
of his lines.

He makes me
a hot water bottle

but even that
(usually does the trick)
... doesn’t do the trick!

I whimper
sob quietly
(so I think)
want to wail.

E-mail Helen.

Complain to my male
about it being unknown to his sex.

“You lucky lucky...bleeder...
...lucky you...don’t have to...go ‘thru
this bloody thing! ”

He kisses
my belly

crying ‘cos
I’m hurting.

His tears
splash into my navel.

He puts
his lips
around it
blows upon it.

His loving breath
warm on my tummy

then keeping up
the sucking/blowing
action

He moves from section
to section

of my cramping belly.

It unties the knot
Pain tied me up in.

I laugh
run my fingers through his curls.

“You look like those sucker fish
that attach themselves to sharks
to clean them”

“Mmmm! ”
He says.

I moan.

Half in pleasure – half in pain.

Enjoying our
symbiotic relationship.

He keeps it up
‘til he’s blue in the face
...’til I fall asleep

Drifting free from pain
...into dreams...of him...him...

...his kisses...his kindness...

his the warm breath of love

taming my pain.
