God helped me through my days of great travail,
And brought me out unscathed through life’s thistles;
He cared for me when I was quite careless,
Comforting me in my life’s agony.
God made me better than what I could be,
Consoling my heart in times of despair;
If I am good now, God is the reason;
The badness in me is my own folly.
God protected me from my enemies;
The guilt of doing sins could not prevail;
He forgave me my many trespasses,
And gave me successes against devils.
Oh, what a wonderful God, I have known,
Amazing in His love for all mankind!
To follow Christ, His only Son is great;
This is the mercy, love, Almighty’s grace.
