That A Man Must Not Be Seen To Be Weak Poem by Francis Duggan

That A Man Must Not Be Seen To Be Weak

Your urge to ask for help your inner voice deny
That a man must not be seen to be weak to you too does apply
Even to your friends of your worries you dare not speak
In case they'd look upon you as being weak
As a man you believe your feelings you ought not show
And though in your life you have never felt so low
Or as out of sorts as you does feel right now
For you to seek help would seem as weak somehow
Since the bug of depression has come with you to stay
Your price for your idea of manhood seems too big for you to pay
Than go to a doctor in silence you'd prefer to suffer on
Though all of the joy out of life for you has gone
Like it is said pride comes before a fall
And that applies to you and me and all.
