That Day I Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

That Day I

That day I

I managed restaurant
Petersburg, in Russia.
The food was Mexican
But served as if Texan
We spoke English
Taken as Americans!
I never watched TV
Unaware, did not see
Why many talked of
Bombs…and blast
In twins…USA!
Most of our customers
Marine seals with berets

Locals came to show off
"We are not old Russians
We live like Westerners! "
In that time, occasion
Non-Yankees among guests
Cried some, wondered some
How to show sympathy, empathise…
"But why so, what happened? "
I should have asked; questioned
But did not, carelessness…
Threw up my shoulder:
"They got what they deserve! "
One of seals overheard
Left with note and message.

"Wrong place and wrong time, "
I was told; realised!
Heard my name was crossed:
"No is he! Not with us! "
I was judged incorrect
Relations did shatter!

Then things went other way
Humpty Dumpty's example
Can never recover…no, never!
Even if I was right! ! !
