That Day Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

That Day

That Day

Was in line just because
-was doubtful and tired
-of motions of of mullahs!

Had risked life and stood
-to retain what sold shah.

He gave up Bahrain and
-made secret agreements
-with ones who were friends
- (with him, not with nation…)

Around him, to keep his dynasy
-were thousand families
-who lied, robbed, embezzled!

Our life was different;
-the ones who travelled
-internal and worldwide
-met people, asked, replied;
-reached into secrets' bags.

We had the slogan:
- "Down with Shah! "

Though the same with others
-but never we meant same
-with Bazaar, Qom, mullahs.

Both had our bows, arrows
-our target was common,
-meant to hunt a prey…

The archmen divided
-right after the bull fell
-surfaced our difference.

They talked of religion,
-we wanted scholar…

We lost our dream since…

Nation was bush, trees,
-filled plains with green,
-approved them silenty!

That day I was in line;
-the line was very long
-to go to America…

Suddenly some youths came;
-they climbed the fences
-and the forward movement
-of the line slowed down,
-and at last, broke up!

Iron bars, Embassy's
-on the side street
-were between us and them.
-They carried on their chests
-posters of Khomeini as Imam.

"What is this? " I questioned
- "Here is Devil's House;
-and we must occupy! ! ! "

This was not my first time
-to face my opposed ones…
-first was with Lahuti
-who asked me to be with
-Sepah-e-Pasdaran…
- "No! " I said, mentioning:
- "One land and two armies? "

Once it was during the voting
- "Ye" or "No"
-we enforced the changes
-thanks to the friends and connections:
- "You can add your concern! "

Time had come to leave and
-let wolf, sheep and grain
-get along; in their way.
-Preferred to depart; not to fight
-which could harm, shed blood…
