'That Old Devil Moon' Poem by Joyce Hemsley

'That Old Devil Moon'

Words spoken by a
sweet young maiden:

As soon as I hear him speak his name
I will surely be falling in love again.
So very immature am I...
Can't trust myself, and that is why
I need a friendly shoulder
Someone who's a little older
To tell me what to do.
Because I must stay happy and single
Where life is a sweet merry jingle.
And I hope the dust of my cocoon
Will protect me from 'that old devil moon'.
For if ever I hear him speak his name
I could be falling in love again.
