That Rainy Winter's Day Poem by Amar Agarwala

That Rainy Winter's Day

I still reminisce that winters' day
Grey clouds hovering around,
As cold and wet like it could get
Bold raindrops drumming a sound.

The view outside my window pane
Was dismal as it could be,
It seemed the heaven's had painted
The mar with melancholy.

An icy wind knocking about
Wanting to enter my room,
Could fathom all it wanted was
To torment me with its gloom.

That winter's day left at my porch
Old memories laced with pain,
They crept in slow and climbed my bed
With me since then they have lain.

That mournful day has long past by
Leaving footsteps in my mind,
Of ice and sleet and blinding rain
And a morbid day unkind.

They prong me with sad painful blows
And I know not what to say,
My heart's now left all cold and numb
Still gripped by a winter's day.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
WINTER
Some winter days are colder and wetter than any. They carry within a cold morbidity that is hard to describe. I read a poem on a winter's day Walterrean Salley, titled - A Cold Grey Wintry Day and it inspired me to write this verse.
