The After Poem by Dakota Ellerton

The After

Now that you're gone
life seems so bad
I have a mom
but don't have a dad

I told you somethings
that made you sad
I'm so very sorry
I was just mad

I take back my words
Dad, i'm so sorry
for making you sad
and for making you worry

I did what I did
because I thought of the end
I didn't realize
how much time I would spend

I ignored the signs
of your illness progressing
Even now I cry
but I guess It was a blessing

You suffer no more
you feel no pain
I wish I could
see you again

You were my daddy
and I your little girl
When you passed away
so did my world

Your sister went nasty
and began blaming me
for your death, and I cried
it was ment to be

Things got worse
I needed you to fight with me
no one understood
and no one could see

Everyone started yelling
even those who didn't care
I don't know what to do
I wish you were here

Protecting me through things
you're still my dad
I won't forget
the good times we had
