The Age Of Unrequited Luck Poem by Bryan Taplits

The Age Of Unrequited Luck

The kneecap that's inherent
Is not the quite new play
And dislocation from its leveler
Is certainly not a matinee.
In youth we are all smiles
With age "hurts" bring us down,
No longer can we "sing and dance"
"Age" brings the curtain down.

Yes, now times are ever changing
And the evidence is clear
For what once was just a boo-boo
Is a trauma in later years.
No longer do we heal
in weeks-
or even many months,
It now takes years--and maybe even more-
Before, before...
We can open that robust new door.
Our timepiece is no longer useful
A stopwatch is a joke,
We need a calendar now
that marks the time
between "all right"
and "Oh God. I think it's broke! "
