The Agony In The Garden Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

The Agony In The Garden

In the garden's hushed embrace,
Where shadows dance with grace,
A soul, burdened and deep,
Whispers prayers in endless keep.

Amidst the olive trees, so old,
Their branches gnarled, stories untold,
A figure kneels, His heart laid bare,
In agony, a silent prayer.

The moon, a silver sentinel,
Bathes the scene in its gentle spell,
As if to share the weight of despair,
That grips the Savior's soul so rare.

The agony in the garden's embrace,
A symphony of sorrow, a sacred space,
Where tears of blood and sweat unite,
In the depths of a love so pure and bright.

The weight of the world, a crushing load,
Presses upon His weary soul, untold,
Yet through the pain, a resolve takes form,
To fulfill His mission, to weather the storm.

For in this garden, where shadows loom,
A divine plan unfolds, to dispel the gloom,
A sacrifice of love, beyond compare,
To conquer death and break the chains of despair.

So let us pause, in reverence and awe,
At the agony in the garden, where He saw,
The path of redemption, the price He paid,
For our salvation, a debt repaid.
