The Antelope's Fate Poem by Frank Adie

The Antelope's Fate

Antelope! Antelope the innocuous beast
The most sought after delicacy of man and beast
What piteous fate thus befall thee
That you are ever doomed to flee.

To outrun the big cats day and night
You must be on constant flight
Even when you escape the claws of beast
Men would still not let you rest.

Rather than die for cats to live
You prefer to remain a fugitive
You are most vulnerable among wildlife
Constantly in the race of life.
