The Arrow Of Life With You, Mother Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Arrow Of Life With You, Mother

The arrow of life with you, mother
Not always just
Not always happy
Mirth was not of you
Nor womanly vanity
Nor pride you felt except maternal pride
Of sacrifices had you
Sacrifice after sacrifice
But robust womanliness yes,

And Time of your virtues enamouring

Despite the brunt of life
Sacrifice on sacrifice
Made you eighty-nine years
Had not maligned winds taken you away.
